Community Performances

After the success of the WHAAM Jr event in March (Click here to read about WHYT's performance), some of our members were asked to perform at the WHAAM Summer Event on June 1st at Kingsley Hall, Westward Ho!.  The concert was once again to raise money for the RNLI.

We were asked to perform at the Performers Strike Back concert outside of Ilfracombe's Landmark Theatre on 11th February. Many local theatre/song/dance/acting groups performed on a temporary stage to raise awareness of the Save North Devon Theatres and we were privileged to be part of this. Variety show donates proceeds to Carewise

Westward Ho! Youth Theatre performed its annual variety show at the weekend and raised over £500 in the process for Carewise, the young carers’ project for North Devon and Torridge. Audience members were treated to a selection of songs, dances and sketches from musicals and films, as well as some individual pieces.

Ann Arnaouti-Baan, Young Carers Engagement Support Worker, from Carewise said, “What a fabulous show we were treated to and made even more special for us by the donation to our charity. Carewise offers practical, emotional and respite support to young carers aged five to 18 years of age, who take on a caring role for someone in their family with long term health difficulties.

“We can provide assessments; support; advice and understanding; after school drop-in sessions; trips and activities; and one-to-one / family support to help young carers better manage their caring responsibilities. The donation from the kind people at Westward Ho! Youth Theatre will go a long way to helping us do that.”

Producer, Lynne Malone, said, “It was a great show and our cast stunned the audience with their performance. We had singers, comedy sketches, dancers and uplifting, roof raising, group numbers. Our members pull it out of the bag every show and the fact that they all chose to donate the show proceeds to Carewise makes us so proud of them.”
